That has to be the last straw.

The man can spend billions upon billions, adding up to trillions in Iraq, but he wants to veto health care for poor kids (including my kids - I'm a teacher...my paycheck doesn't allow enough money to cover their health care).

What will it take for the people of this country to rise up in arms?

Sway, you're an idiot. Typical response. Let the people suffer so that the CEO's can have 7 yachts.

Get a clue, then come back.

Um...you people are saying these things and probably haven't even thought about the fact that in some areas such as my own....teachers sure as hell don't make $60,000 a year! And since she DOES work, it's her tax dollars at work as well.

I go to college, my husband works, pays taxes, and his job does not currently offer insurance. My children are on CHIP as well. I don't feel the least bit guilty about using CHIP while we need it. It's our tax dollars too.

Also, when we had our children we did have insurance and my husband made great money but he was injured at work and can no longer work in his trade so money has declined. After his injury, I went to college and I'm almost done. I'm using what is available to my children in the meantime. Once I finish school and go to work and acquire insurance then, no more CHIP for us. And I don't mind paying taxes to help those in need when the need arises. It can happen to anyone at any given moment and more than likely when you don't expect it.

Yes, ma'am I would rise to the occasion. Not in support of people who sit home and don't want to work and don't pay taxes and mooch off of their state. But for people like you and myself. Where the funds that come in are just too little.

I have to ask: Do you have credit card debt? Cable TV? A car payment? Go out to eat? Do you smoke?

Can you look at your budget and truely say that there is nothing that can be cut out in order for you to provide your children with health care?

I know that many school districts do not heavily supplement health care costs (especially for the family), but there is usually plenty of opportunity to sacrifice this and that in order to afford something as important as this. It i snot the governments job to pay for health care so that you can maintain non-necessities.

I find it a bit hard to believe that a teacher is not provided health insurance. There are 4 teachers in my family and they seem to be doing nicely.

Free health care for kids whose parents earn over $60,000 per year? No, sorry, I'll sit this one out.
