iv had it since it was a baby.. a year and a half ago. i definitly overfed him and is a lot larger than he should be. if i let him go, would he survive after feeding him at home for so long? the pond is on our property and i know turtles live in it.

If you're going to let it go,you need to wait until spring, around the second week in May,so there will be plenty of natural foods for it to eat and it can get accustomed to being out.If you let it go now,it may not survive the winter. When you do let it go,though,it should be fine.Turtles are very primitive, and instinctively grab at things that move, like fish and bugs. What kind of a turtle is it?

you wound be able to set him back into the wild, he is used to getting food handed to him and not have to hunt, if the pond is on ur property and isnt too big you might be able to still feed him the recomended amount he eats, but thats only if you can.

Probably, but keep watching him for a few weeks afterwords an maybe supply a small amount of easily accessible food for him during these first few weeks.
