The other day at school I wore a shirt that says...
"I notice you're gansgter...I'm pretty gangster myself".
And one of the teacher's thought it was inappropriate and told me to turn in inside out.

I'm not even gangster; it was a joke.

And...
there are kids at my school that wear shirts that say things like "I'm a hustler"; and girls that wear very 'showy' shirts, if you know what I mean.

Obviously, I didn't turn my shirt inside out.
I didn't think it was bad or something that shouldn't have been worn.

Was this teacher overreacting, or was I wrong?

The teacher was overreacting, there are tons of kids at my school who have that shirt and they never get in trouble and my school is STRICT.

I don't think she was overreacting at all, and you aren't wrong. School is very strict for that kind of stuff, gangsters falls under the "bad ppl" is u know what I mean... teachers are too old to get our jokes now a days (well maybe sum of them)That's not right for the other students though. School is GAY! P.S. That sounds like a shirt I would wear too lol

Um...I think that there's a lot out there..if you know what I mean...and with the different messages and ideas being spread but the media, ect, I think that the teacher was within her right to say something, but I don't think she should've asked you to turn the shirt inside out, I just think that the teacher should've asked you to wear a jacket over it or to not wear it again, because it seems that the shirts slogan is a bit controversal. I don't think you were particularly wrong, though, just not all the way in the right.

I think she was overreacting. Now a days they have to take everything in to consideration. When I was in school, it really was not an issue. Just couldn't wear shirts with swears. The problem is.......... some people ruin things for the rest of us.

I dont tthink you were wrong
but teachers are instructed to be VERY careful not to allow gang related viloence or issues to get started, so even though the teach may have overreacted just a bit, it is a serious issue, espceially in larger schools.

The teacher was definately overreacting. Good on you for not turning it inside out. While I think you should respect teacher's authority, you also need to believe in your convictions.
