What things can you do?
I can only focus on one or two things at a time.
Can you learn to multi-task or are you born with that ability?

Yes, I can multi-task, I've just always been that way. When I was young, mom worked days and my dad worked nights. As the oldest child I had to see much of the household things were done, as well as go to school and help with my younger sister and brother. As a mom, wife, employee, etc. I had to multi-task also. Now I seldom do one thing at a time. I always have several things going at once, it's easier that way for me.

Yes I'm lucky to be born that way. I've worked successfully in many totally different occupations -- and had fun doing so . I've worked as Aircraft Mechanic, Insurance Underwriter, Men's Hair-stylist, Mental Health Social Trainer, Welder, Bricklayer, and Impresario. I feel that most people should be able to develop the same ability. If you think about it ---driving a vehicle is a multi-task operation that most of us can already do !. ( I'd better add that I'm 68 yrs young . ha! ha! )

You are multi tasking silly. If you can do two things at a time that is multi-tasking.

Right now I'm typing, hugging the cat and keeping an ear on a rowdy house of young (19/20) kids. I have the cat under my chin and he is purring away and trying to lick my fingers while I m typing.

That electric guitar is starting to drive me nuts but the violin is nice but I think I need a cuppa tea!!! LOL

I think that people that multi-task, myself included . would be labeled Attention Deficit Disorder.
For I have the ability to do all the tasks I set out to do, but don't have the attention span to see one through , before I start another, which means that I wear myself out , trying to tie up a whole lot of loose ends by the end of the day.

Yes, I can be driving car, put on lipstick, talk on cell phone, adjust radio, watching road, smoking cigarette, just about all the time I am doing more than one thing. At home, I play games on computer, thinking about next projects and talk on the phone while playing. I have always been a multi-task person so guess I was born with it.

You can learn it but it becomes an addiction. I don't feel right unless I am doing at least 3 things at a time. I actually use Q&A as a time to relax and not multi task. I have a load of laundry going right now but other than that, I am enjoying my morning coffee.

Actually, it's kind of pushed on you. We are born multi-taskers. (We peed and cried at the same time, didn't we?)

As we got older, we multi-tasked and really didn't even think about it, it just came naturally.

As we age, we still multi-task, but in my instance, I wonder if it will ever stop. It seems the older I go, the more momentum I gain. I'd like some youngsters to try to keep up my pace.

The things in life are the things we do....and do....and do!

I am a multi-tasked person.
I can watch TV, play on the computer, and talk on the phone at the same time.
I learned how to do more than one thing at a time after I had my first child.

The only thing that I can't do yet is chew gum and walk at the same time without tripping. Never have understood that one. But still working on it, lol.

I think most people are multi-taskers, learned by force when were younger. Being raised on a farm forced me to be a multi-tasker, and greatly helped me in the work force. I still multi-task even though I am retired, just because I don't know any other way to be.

Like AlcoholicDemon, I can only multi-task when it comes to household chores and I don't really do a whole lot of that anymore either.
These days, I like to do one thing, do it well, finish it, and then move on to something else. Seems I become too distracted and at the end of the day, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is completed and the house is ravaged by my absentmindedness!
