My suspicion is it's your IAC (aka ISC)

Most mitsu fuel injected engines use an IAC/ISC (Idle Air Controller Servo aka Idle Speed Controller).

One of the jobs of this servo is to allow the engine to idle higher when cold (kind of like an automatic engine choke) and also raise the idle when you put additional strain on the engine (AC system for example).

It's not uncommon for the servo to stop operating properly. This typically happens because dirt / dust collects on it and makes it more and more difficult for the servo to move. Eventually the servo simply does not have enough power to move and your car no longer idles properly when cold or when a load is placed on it.

To fix this, it may be a simply as removing the servo and cleaning it of all the dust. If you've let this condition last for too long, you may end up burning out the servo. If this happens you will need to replace it. IIRC it will be several hundred dollars for a new one or you can repair the servo itself for about $150 online.

As has been pointed out, if you don't replace it and it completely fails, it can send a spike of power to your ECU and destroy it as well. Then the cost simply goes up substancially for your repair.

I should also add that you should definitely inspect your air filter first (I'm assuming you're going to do that).

As for what they do for a tune up...
A tune up typically consist of replacing your air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, your cap & rotor and your coil wire.

Tune up's typically do not include checking your IAC/ISC. HTH.

Could be a problem with the ac compressor starting to sieze up. If it runs fine with the ac off , I would take it in and have the ac system checked, or drive without the ac on.. Could also need a good tune up. Whens the last time you used your ac?

Need more info. Does it do this when the AC is on? What about FAN only? No AC or Fan?

AC ON: Check the compressor. Most likely its stuck
FAN ONLY: Check Fan on the car.
neither: YOUR CAR IS WHAK!
