He/she could be lonely, narcissistic, friendly, homeless, Sargent, annoying, infantile, loser, candidate, celebrity...etc...

Drama Queen in most cases; in extreme cases where the person hurts their own child for attention it is called Munchausen by Proxy. An example of this was shown in Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis.

I like attention seeking because it does not make any assumptions about the person's motivation. Some narcissistic people seek attention. But some narcissistic people don't. Conversely not all people who see attention are narcissistic. Simpler and more behavioral is better,

Trolls are motivated by a desire for attention by people and can't or won't acquire it in a productive manner.

This is a rather modern use for the word troll.

Comes for trolling for fish with bait.

Some people "bait" others just to get attention.
