I agree that 1 - In the Air Tonight is a good song and that 2 - music with meaning is better than boring commercially appealing music. However, I just wanted to check that you are aware that In the Air Tonight is not actually about any real event.

Don't listen to all the negative things that people say. Yeah that song is cool, and I agree with you about songs that have, meanings. The 90s rap and R&B is better then most of the songs nowadays. Songs nowadays have no type of meaning and some of them the majority to the song is all chorus. For example Souja boy hell a weak. Check out the lyrics to the song, it has two short verses.

That is one of my favorite songs! I've loved that song since I was young....and I agree with what you said about liking music with real meaning; too bad there's not much of that kind of music nowadays! Nowadays rap music is so friggin' lame; "Soulja Boy?" WTF is that? '90s rap and R&B was so much better...most of the rap songs sound the same to me now. I'm a 26-year-old Black/Puerto Rican woman, and I'd much rather listen to Phil Collins, Linkin Park, Metallica, Audioslave, Marvin Gaye, Alicia Keys, and other artists with real talent. I miss the good old days!

my 15 year old son likes music that was popular when I was a teenager and even younger. It's almost like paying homage (respect for) music today. It had to start somewhere and Phil Collins in a fine singer/song writer. Before he went solo, he was the lead singer for Genesis.
so, I'm watching VH1 and # 24 on the top soft hits is your one and only so say that you like that song LOUD and PROUD!!!!

When I was 15, WELL after the Rolling Stones
had recorded "Time Is On My Side," and much
of their best stuff, I remember almost apologizing
to someone about it.
I'll never forget what they told me: Listen to what
you want for yourself. Would you ask someone
to listen to stuff they didn't want to?
Instantly, I realized I'd always felt the same:
Be True To Yourself Always. Period.
