Romeo and Juliet is not true as Shakespeare wrote it, but he did base it off of a story from Italy. Its plot is based on an Italian tale, translated into verse as Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke in 1562 or 1561. It is said that that work was based off of a true story, with the young lady that played the supposed inspiration for Juliet's grave being a tourist attraction in Italy.

Sorry, Romeo and Juliet were fiction by Shakespeare. I would say the story of Cleopatra and Marc Anthony (although the story of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar is kind of close, it doesn't really compare). Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn were good - up until he had her beheaded.

Cleopatra and her two lovers Caesar and Mark Antony.
She was supreme ruler of Egypt, as pharaoh, consummated a liaison with Gaius Julius Caesar that solidified her grip on the throne, and, after Caesar's assassination, aligned with Mark Antony, with whom she produced twins.
Mark Antony committed suicide, having been told Cleopatra was dead. According to the doctor Olympus (an eye-witness), he was brought to Cleopatra's tomb and died in her arms. A few days later, on 12 August, Cleopatra also died by snakebite in the breast.
