I got this chip from a friends computer and I know it works, but it has a few bent pins, and it's missing 2 of its heatsink pads (the round black pads in the corners).

If I straighten the pins with plyers, would the chip still work?

And are the heatsink pads that important?

With pins straightened and aligned w/ socket, you could test if processor is still ok. Just be VERY CAREFUL in straightening the pins.
Fabricate something similar to the pad then glue it. Without the pad, the heatsink base might not properly align and contact the chip's surface. It might crack/damage the chip when locking the heatsink in place. Do not forget putting a thin film of thermal paste on top of the chip.
