Just wondering how effective it is. I don't plan on using it because I'm not ready to have sex yet, but when that day comes....is it trustworthy?

I've been on alesse for 2 years now and no pregnancies.

However almost every woman I talk to who is on the pill has gotten pregnant, BUT I'm not there to see if they were taking it properly so they probably weren't since most of the women are 18-23.

I'm on alesse and it is amazing for cramps, acne, period control. I just love it!!

I was on orto tricyclen before and hated it I also hated camilia however those 2 pills, I wasn't have sex while using so I couldn't tell yea....but my friends have gotten preggers on tricyclen.

I say just don't use a mini pill or progestin only because you'll get pregnant.

Use a normal strength combination pill.

I know of someone who got pregnant while being on the pill for a medical condition she had.

As for trustworthy, it is about 99% effective but I read somewhere a while ago that sometimes women who are in a certain weight range can be more likely to get pregnant than others but I don't remember what the exact number was on that except that it was pretty low.

It usually is for most women. But do not rely solely on that. Always use a condom as well. I got pregnant while on the pill with both of my children. I never missed a pill ( I took them religiously), and I did not have sex if I was taking antibiotics, so I did everything exactly right and still got pregnant. So yes, it is very possible....I have two children who are living proof of it!!!

I have a son...conceived on the pill and a condom. I'm thinking the condom broke and my son's mother was taking antibiotics and didn't tell me (which make the pill less effective). Nothing is 100% but the pill is close.

Just be aware that the hormones in the pill can affect more than just your fertility and you may have to try several to find the one best suited to you.
