I would recommend getting a 3D ultrasound done. They are SO cool and are likely to confirm the gender prediction.

Ultrasounds are fairly accurate today - however be aware there is a chance that it could be wrong. I have a friend that was told all along she was having a girl - bought pink everything and delivered a boy!! She was sending her husband out to trade the pink car seat for a blue one the day she gave birth.

While you can probably be 95% certain the ultrasound is correct - there's that 5% that isn't. And normally they don't confirm baby girls until after 20 weeks - just to make sure they don't see boy parts.

I wouldn't go on that. If the doctor isn't sure sure then dont buy things. With my first they said it was a girl at that time and then again at 36 said he was a boy. so bye bye all the pink stuff. I would go for the 3D ultrasounds. They cost a bit more but they are a VERY good keepsake.
Good luck!

I had amniocentesis done with my second child. There was an ultrasound exam performed so the doctor could locate a safe place to put the needle. It looked like a girl and the test later confirmed it was. I have heard that people who are having boys can see genitalia but it's harder to tell with girls.

You can always lie to your OB and tell her that you are concerned with the size of the child. That is what my husband and I did. We had 4 sono's. The first 3 revealed nothing. But the 4th, which was NOT to discover gender is when we found out we are having a girl.

I just kept telling the Dr that I was concerned about the development and needed to be reassured with a sono.

Don't wait till you're too far along though, cuz the bigger the baby is the harder it is to tell.

i agree with the idea of telling your dr that your worried about the size of the baby, but i was in the same boat you are (except i get ultrasounds every month). they told me they thought i was having a boy but they werent sure and then i found out its for sure. usually the tech's are right, so i'd go ahead and buy a few pink things right now, and if you can get another ultrasound, go for it.

well im in the same position. when i was 18 wks they told me i was having a girl and i went and bought all girls stuff. they said they saw her labia. i am 40 wks today and hope i dont have a lot of returning to do. but you can also tell by the heartbeat. girls are higher like in the 150's and boys are slower. my baby has been a constant 150 so i believe they were right. good luck though

I AM IN THE SAME SITUATION AS YOU. THEY SAID I WAS HAVING A GIRL AND I AM BUYING PINK THINGS, SO IF ITS NOT, WELL MY LITTLE BOY IS WEARING PINK.
ALL I CAN SAY IS, A MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO PERFORM THE ULTRASOUNDS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR. IT MAY NOT BE OBVIOUS TO US BUT THEY HAVE SEEN IT SO MANY TIMES BEFORE THAT THEY WILL KNOW.
EVEN THOUGH PREDICTIONS CAN AND HAVE BEEN WRONG, ONLY BIRTH IS REALLY THE 100% WAY OF KNOWING THE SEX.

hi there,
it most likely is a little girl, but then again it could be wrong!
you should go for one of them 4d scans there really cool and they have a package wer its looking for the sex, so if your baby is active on the day of the scan and they cant be to sure on the sex again they let you come back for another free of charge, and there well worth there money and you get to see what your babys looks like.

good luck(",)

I think, what difference does it make what gender it is. I would be more concerned as to whether it is healthy or not. KNOWING if it is a boy or girl takes excitement out of the delivery. Why not just buy neutral stuff, that way if for some reason it IS a boy, then you won't have wasted all your money buying 'girl' stuff. And 18 weeks? Wow, Health should be the main concern. My opinion of course
