or like if i have 100 songs and 30 photos, how many hrs of video can i have on?and is it possible to get dvd's on the ipod or do u have to buy videos from itunes?

8gig is like 2,000 songs or 5 hours of video. So if all you have is that on it, you should have close to 5 hours of video.
As for the DVDs, well, I've heard you have to buy/download something to convert your DVDs into iTunes format ... but not sure what.

You can buy videos from itunes also you may free download video from youtube, limewire or yahoo/google video. If want get dvd's on the ipod, you may use a iPod converter to help you convert DVD to iPod.
