time zonez were first established in 1882 with the coming of the railroads.why did railroads make time zones nessessery.

To get the optimum schedules and to avoid collisions on tracks that were used by multiple trains accurate time was needed nationwide. Prior to that transportation was slow and took paths that rarely conflicted so being off in a time calculation was not important.

Because people could travel from one point to another much faster so they noticed the sun would set at much different times. When it's gradual you won't notice as much.

Think how can you make a timetable for arrilvals and depatures unless there is standardization in clocks.
