I have 1GB of RAM but i want to upgrade up to 2GB

You only have 2 memory slots, and those notebooks always ship with pairs, which means you have 2 512 stick in there now. So to go to 2GB, you will have to take out what you currently have, and buy a pair of 1GB sticks. Here is a good choice for you:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231132
there are some that are a few dollars cheaper, but these are a little faster and are supported by your system.

I just got a Kingston 1GB of RAM from newegg.com for $29.99 for my Dell XPS M140.
