How does overpopulation affect the cost of living, living space, jobs, general society from a sociological view?

Well, think about it in simple terms of supply and demand. If there is overpopulation, it will increase the cost of living in that there is less supply. Same thing with living space; more people, less space.

Jobs are affected in that it makes laborers very disposable, in that an employer can always hire new laborers who are probably desperate for jobs. This lowers wages, worsens working conditions, and cuts down on benefits. It also destroys the ability of the workers to negotiate for these things, because a strike would just result in the employer hiring a new batch of laborers. Also, unemployment and underemployment increase.

Other things overpopulation causes include poorer health conditions, less government service, more poverty, more crime which emerges from poverty, and so on. In general, its not a good thing.
