what did we have before they came to visit, absolutely nothing, after their unannounced arrivel and imposing their regime on us common folk to the point of sticking the odd sword in here and there they actually provided us with everything we have today which is to much to list but easy to see, they gave us roads and we built the m25,thanks.

It depends on from whose perspective you look at the issue. Sure they gave us roads, better farming, manufacturing etc which was mostly of benefit for future generations, but their arrival in England also created an underclass amongst the endemic population at that time. Some have argued that Romans at the time were given preferential treatment and that for the natives, life became much more difficult due to this inequality.

Also, there have been arguements about just how much the Romans actually contributed to the country anyway. A programme on the History channel called Britain BC actually suggested that there is evidence that native anglos were not as primitive as we once thought and that fewer of the skills found at that time actually derived from the Romans.

Yes they bought the civilisation of the time to Britain They brought ideas about building, water supply, roads, bridges to what was rather a heathen uncivilised country.. Much the same as the British Empire did in later centuries round the world, and for which we have been criticised so much.

They certainly brought straight roads, Pax Romana, a legal system and central heating and running water, but a lot of these died out when they left. Our language has a lot of Latin root words in it as well. The downside was that it was all imposed by force, just like the EU is trying to do nowadays by trickery. Vivat Britannia!

the British were a disorganized group and every city, town and crossroads had a king it was chaos. the romans brought civilization, discipline and eventually a sense of being a unified country with a central government. didn't happen overnight but it all came to pass in the fullness of time.

All right... all right... but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?

They gave us roads, medicine, education, new farming methods, sewage systems and loads of other things that we would not have had for years after we did have them so in short yes they we're good for Britain.

They introduced us Jesus Christ and demanded to build churches all over England. They built us roads so we could get on our horse and carts and drive to the best hairdressers and sun-tan shops.
