Top 10 reasons that George W. Bush invaded Iraq.

10 - Because Saddam was personally responsible for 9/11; I mean because the US was under imminent threat of attack from Iraq; I mean, Saddam had weapons of mass distraction, I mean destruction programs, that he was selling to the Al-Qaeda and Taliban. Oh, wait a minute, now it's coming to me. Because we wanted to liberate the Iraqi people against a ruthless and mean dictator. Yeah, that's it. Like we said all along, Bush just wanted to liberate the Iraqi people.

9 - What is our oil doing under their sand?

8 - Did we mention 9/11 yet? Not that there is any evidence connecting Saddam to 9/11 but we'll just keep mentioning it (but we won't talk about the oil).

7 - Just because you are a chicken hawk, doesn't mean you can't give out a serving of whoop *** (as long as you get others to do it for you).

6 - Bush thought, "What is the stupidest thing I can do to get the whole world's opinion against the United States?"

5 - His advisors thought it was a good way to get his mind off the red button.

4 - Because he heard that Osama Bin Laden was in Pakistan.

3 - It had absolutely nothing to do with oil. Repeat, absolutely nothing to do with oil.

2 - North Korea has the nuclear bomb and everybody knew that Iraq didn't.

And the #1 reason Bush Jr. invaded Iraq - Cheney made him do it.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Dreams are in concrete, plans are in sand"? The dream in Iraq is a strong and responsible government, that's never changed and it's also the main mission. The plans of Iraq must constantly change with the conditions on the ground and be designed to achieve the main mission. Basically, your question and it's inference show you know nothing of which you speak.

Bush has never changed the mission in Iraq. Its always been the same to depose a ruthless, murderess dictator and his political party then to help the Iraqis achieve a stable democracy.

I would have to say none as the mission has been to win and that is what it should continue to be.
believe it or not war is much different than a video game you don't start out knowing everything about the enemy and what sort of weapons they have at each level

Add up the days from the start of the war to current day, factor in the number of times one would change a baby's diaper if baby had a sever case of the runs, and you have your answer. 'W' Changes the mission several times per day.

What's the Difference between 1991 and 2003?

Dick Cheney said we could not go into Iraq in 1991 because we would be bogged down in a quagmire and the Insurgents would be uncontrollable... That is what we have today

bushonlysubmale - totally incorrect, It's NOT bush's war ... it's our war ... we (the poor and middle classes) are the ones who are dying and sacrificing limbs. Until one of the twins enlists, it's going to remain our war ... So let's just say we die ... because bush suckered us into it with horror tales on nonexistent WMDs.

The fact that bush can do whatever he wants is partially true, compliments of those who blindly follow without question or conscience ... at least that's the case for now. We'll meet again in Nov 2008.

As for the Missions

First it was to get Osama Bin Laden, but he slipped through and escaped

Then it was to halt Iraq's build up of WMD's ... but whoops, they didn't exist.

Then it was to make Iraq an shining example of Democracy .. but darn, that didn't turn out either.

Then it was to be a referee in a civil war among sectarian factions that have been fighting for hundreds of years ... but hey that's OK as long as the administration can save face.

And now it is to leverage a misguided sense of patriotism for political gain in the 2008 presidential election.

Standard Republican Operating Procedure ... keep them eating our of your hand in a constant state of fear.

How many times did Clinton bomb Iraq during "peacetime"?
Alot more than Bush has shown flexibility in war that is never an equal number, not a level playing field. Thank you.

Covertly, it has been for the same purpose all along--oil and power. Publicly, the mission has changed as often as is necessary to give the neo-cons back home some "talking points" about why we should be there anyway.
