and more by July of next year. He has also told us that the surge is working and things are looking up in Iraq. If that is the case, why is his recent request to fund the war, the highest single year total????

regerugged: hun, this has been in the news all week. especially since bush originally projected his 2008 defense budget @ $147 billion. and now presto-chango there has been a magical increase of $47 billion.

"The Bush administration seeks $195 billion, which includes additional funds to continue deployment of the troop buildup. Forces are due to withdraw between December and July."

FYI... spending to fund the Afghan/Iraq conflict has significantly increased since '04..

in 2004 - $ 94 billion -- the TOTAL cost for both conflicts
in 2005 - $108 billion
in 2006 - $122 billion
in 2007 - $173 billion

i'm confused... because the definition of fiscal conservatism = the economic and political policy that advocates restraint of governmental taxation and expenditures.

and now in order to save face/his legacy, bush is "...warning that he is serious about vetoing Democratic plans to add $22 billion to next year's budget for education, health and veterans' programs."

boys & girls this is a classic example of.. elitist HYPOCRISY! you gotta love it..

He told you the surge is working? Why on Earth do you believe him? He's lying, don't believe anything he says. This war was a bad idea and I bet deep down he regrets it.
