Yes, it is common for women to push out some fecal matter during the pushing stage of labor. You are using some of the same muscles to get the baby out that you use to "go to the bathroom."
It's nothing to be afraid of or embarrassed about. First of all, if you did it would probably only be a tiny bit. Secondly, you are going to be in a painful and intense situation and I doubt you will even be aware (much less see) what you are doing down there. I have had three babies and have no idea if I did or didn't poop! Who cares? And who would bother to ask later?
Thirdly, nurses and medical personal are very used to seeing it and think nothing of it. They just quickly whisk it away and replace the sterile dressing underneath you.
Oh, and don't get an uncomfortable and unecessary enema to try to prevent this. It does not guarantee you won't push out something, esp. if your labor is long. I asked a nurse friend of mine if the enema is a guarantee and she said no, many women still pass a little bit of something.

Think about how much effort a woman uses to push! Its actually very possible, its also totally natural and passing water would be the least of your worries.
Anyway, you would be given the opportunity to empty your bowel and bladder before contractions became too regular anyway.
I cant believe you would think thats embarassing considering that the midwife or doctor is watching a messy, bloody baby and placenta coming out of your dilated vagina.
Concentrate on the baby and dont worry about the rest, they will have seen far worse than a little incontinence!

If by use the bathroom you mean have a bowel movement during delivery, than yes, it does happen to most. You can arrange to have an enema while in the beginning of labor, and that will reduce your chances of a b/m during delivery. But you wont be able to have an epidural since you will need the ability to walk to the restroom to clear everything out.
Good luck

I have given birth and it does happen, but not to everyone. It didn't happen to me (I asked). A lot of times the woman is unaware of it even happening and the nurse's clean it away before anyone else notices it. It may worry you now, but once you are actually having a baby it will be the least of your worries. And after everything you go through during childbirth and the days following, very little will ever embarrass you again.

Yes and its nothing to be afraid or embarrased of. It is completely natural and apart of the process. That is the last thing any of the staff or your friends/family will be thinking about while you give birth. You won't even know it happened if you do have a BM while pushing. So don't worry about it!!!
Good luck and best wishes!!

yes it's true. all that pressure and pushing can cause you to use the bathroom just as if you were using the toilet. you shouldn't be embarrassed. the dr's are used to it. chances are, you wouldn't even realize it if you did. i know i didn't. if it's such a concern, ask about having a catheter and enema (although some dr's will NOT perform these anymore unless it's an emergency). me, personally, i'd rather use the bathroom during birth than getting one of those!

There is a feeling when the baby's head enters the birth canal (you will most likely know you are in labor at this time) and it suddenly feels as though you will have diareha iti is common and it is just the pressuer on your bowls of the sudden shift in weight not everyone will experience this and not every time you are in labor either....the hospital staff know exactly what is going on when you suddenly insist (as I did) to get up to go fast!!! haha don't worry you will not birth in the toilet..now if you mean will you urinate or deficate durring labor yes possible it is a very difficult time and you will not know if you do it and they will not shame you promise

Use the bathroom? Or do you mean have a bowel movement when they are pushing?

yes it does happen to some, it isnt loads tho as your body tells you to go the loo before labour is about to start or in early labour! it did with me, and i didnt poo during labour! but i wouldnt worry too much about it, as millions of women have done this and it isnt there fault. plus pooing while your about to give birth is the last thing on your mind. if there seeing all your bits down there then abit of poo isnt going to hurt lol
good luck im sure you'll be fine
