It is. If you were a professional with several years of experience doing lawns not belonging to your parents and owned your own equipment you could ask more

no,your not underpaid.in most parts of the country its hard to make a dollar, and most people are willing to do the same work for less than 10 dollars.if the ground is particularly uneven, hilly,or has a lot of trees than you might be underpaid, but 10 dollars for cutting 500 sq ft plus weedwacking is enough

So let me get this straight. I assume you are a teenager living for free in your parents house and they have graciously offered to pay you to mow the lawn so you will have some pocket money to spend on whatever you want.

So, unless your parents are making you pay them for room and board, I think you are OVERPAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should be doing household chores like lawn mowing, taking out the garbage, cleaning the garage, cooking dinner once or twice a week for free as part of living in a family.

Figure it out by the hour. How long does it take you to cut it? Are you buying the gas and oil for the mower? Since you said "our" backyard, I assume you live at home with your parents. How much do you pay for meals and laundry and your share of the utilities?

My kids get no pay for their work around the house. They get the things they need, and some of the things they want. You live there, do your share and be grateful for what you get.

Are you living there? Are they feeding you?Do your parents pay for water, heat ,cable, phone? In all honesty a company would charge around $25.00 per week.
