The * originally was put on the home run record by roger maris as an addendum to the fact that while he beat Babe Ruth's single season home run record of 60, with his 61st. However, the * was applied to Maris' total because he did it in 8 extra games.
(if Maris' season was the same length as Ruths, he would not have broken it)
Now, as the * applies to Bonds, you see, Bonds began taking performance enhancing steroids, according to his testimony to the grand jury. His claim that he didn't know it was steroids was pretty weak.
A number of naive Bonds fans typically believe two things.
1) that because he never failed a drug test, he must be clean. The argument here is that they give LOTS of notice before a drug test is to be taken and it's only urine, not blood.
2) Steroids weren't explicitily banned by baseball. While this is true, it was against US law to use steroids without a prescription.
Lastly, if Bonds didn't think he was doing something wrong, he would have been open about it. His hiding all the facts is about as proof-positive as anyone can be about his guilt.

The point of having the asterisk next to the baseball means it is questionable of how barry bonds achieved his goal of breaking the homerun of 756. There has been allegations that bonds took steroids during his major league career and to this day it has not been proven. It's all been speculated because no one wanted him to be the one to break hank aaron's record and the media were looking for something to bury him with and nothing entices the fans then a scandel in the sport.
The thing about it is that they may never prove that he did take steroids. It's just sad that everyone concludes he did something and he has already been convicted in the fans eyes.

what it means is because barry bonds is under suspicion of using steriods at some or through most of his career would he have broken the record if not for the steroids. so the asterick is to let people know that yeah he broke the record but he didn't or probably didn't do it cleanly like hank aaron did with out the use of performance enhancing drugs. and yes i believe that the ball deserves the asterick

Well, his mom was an asterisk and his dad was a dollar sign. Technically, he's a combination of both but looks more like an asterisk. However, when you get up close to him you can see the dollar sign in him, too.

i think of that their celeb prestige places them able to the place they are going to be criticized no count what they do. on the different hand who available has no longer executed something that they be apologetic approximately or they understand that they don't have executed. in my opinion I have no difficulty with the actuality that those men took aspects that weren't banned from the sport that they have got been enjoying, each and every athlete seems for an ingredient in some way, it rather is a foul thank you to income that ingredient yet as you mentioned, one hundred+ gamers theory that became a great thank you to get that ingredient. additionally you hear that gamers of yesteryear did no longer do it...it rather is via the fact they did no longer have them obtainable no longer via fact they have been extra appropriate than that, they might taken them 7 days a week and two times on Sunday in the event that they theory it would have helped. The media is reporting what is going to sell their papers/magazines, now and returned they might desire to sensationalize it to make the sale yet it rather is the character of the media, returned no longer something new in basic terms one thing we would desire to continuously all be attentive to. i think of the gamers do get a techniques too lots grief for issues that they did yet they have thousands and thousands of motives to pass directly to their next holiday and revel in themselves!

Suspicion? The guy did it. So Did McGwire (who is in hiding right now). As did many others, like Brady Anderson, Jason Giambi, Gary Sheffield, etc. The proof is in the pudding.
The guy puts up numbers that he never put up before, and he does it after the age of 35. Players after the age of 35 are starting to decline and or have declined performance wise.
His body grew from 185lbs to 225+. On top of that his head size has grown 2 hat sizes! His feet has grown 2 shoe sizes, all after the age of 35!! Who in their 30s starts growing again???
The biggest proof is that he said under oath that he "....unknowingly took steroids." If he knew or not, still..........he took them!! Who in their right mind puts something in their mouth, puts something on their body, or takes a syringe and injects themselves with something that they have no idea what they are putting in their body??? Are you kidding me? What person or athlete does that to their body?
Wake up people, especially you people in the bay area with the blinders on.

He used steroids (and admitted it).....a fact that Bond's fans for some reason seem to ignore because if he was never found guilty.
I would think an admission is the same thing as guilt....at least it is ouitside the city of San Fran.

The point is to say "even though we can't prove you did anything wrong, we're going to single YOU out as a cheater (even though you didn't break any rules)."
