Were you in the front row seats or the nose bleed section? This was a time when you had seats. I know now everyone just stands in a crowd.

I saw the original Rolling Stones (when they were way young). I had nose bleed section tickets

I was fortunate enough to see The Beatles live in Madrid, and attend the after-party. I was 21. Got to talk to all of them.

I had a dancing contract on Spanish TV, with the same Agent who booked them for Spain. So we got to sit in the front row. Imagine, coming from South Africa, we did not have TV in those days. So for me, it was a highlight!

Back "in the days" I did my first concert to see a band called Rare Earth. They did a song I hear on the radio every once in a while called "I Just Want To Celebrate". This was the mid-60's. Good seats between 1/4 & 1/2 way up from the stage.

Since that time I've been to many concerts and seen the good, the bad, the old and the new. Haven't been to any in the last few years, just haven't had the time.

First live concerts I attended were: Joan Baez, 1963, Ravinia Park, Chicago...lucky, we had SRO seats, but at the last minute, they set up folding chairs in front of the regular seats...we sat dead center front row..it was as if she was singing to us alone! That same summer, say Peter, Paul, And Mary, dead center, front row, and a new group called "the Chad Mitchell Trio." We were in heaven, I play guitar, was nuts about all folk music. The next few years were spent seeing The New Christy Minstrals, Joan Baez again, Peter, Paul and Mary again, the Kingston Trio, and Buffy St. Marie. This brings back so many fun memories....thanks for the trip, Goldwing

I went to, what was called, the Big Ape Convention (the Big Ape was the local pop radio station.) They brought in a lot of the popular recording artists of the day. I know I saw a lot of people that day but the only one I can remember was Bobby Darin.....as viewed from the nose-bleed section of the Jacksonville Colliseum....l965...PS...I also saw Elvis at this same place

My brother took me to the fleetwood mac concert. I was the older one but had no interest in concerts however found it very entertaining even though I did not know the songs. The crowd was scary----so many. I have not been to another concert apart from walking into one when the gates were opened as it was raining. Loved the song "diamonds on the souls of my shoes" ---something like that OK it's not my thing.

My first live concert was to see the king, Elvis. I broke a pair of brand new heels. The crowd was so loud you could not hear him at all. He begged us to be quiet.

My very favorite was Neil Diamond. I have seen him three times over the years. First time, San Antonio in the auditorium. I drove there by myself. No one knew who he was. The second time, in the 70s, big, big hit, and he was awesome. We got in trouble for walking up to the front aisle. We were in the nosebleed section because he was so popular.
The last time I saw him was a few years ago, about three. He was older but his music was still great.

I don't know that they called them concerts then. But when I was a teen in the early 60's. They had a Large movie theatre downtown called the FOX in San Francisco. I went and saw Fabian, Bobby Darrin, and a few others that I don't remember now.
Neil Diamond in "66" at my High School !!!! (See the Neil Diamond question for my answer regarding this.)

My first EX, went to school with "Santana" at Mission High in San Francisco. And we used to hang out at some of the clubs when he was just starting out.

The others that I have seen have been Reba, with Jeff Foxworthy , Brooks and Dunn, Neil Diamond.

I have NEVER been to a live concert. (I am so deprived!) What REALLY bugs me is that my daughter WON front row seat tickets to the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" Tour, she took her BOYFRIEND instead of her own mother...who has been a lifelong (well--almost) Eagles fan! The shame. The agony.

Actually I did meet Elton John once. In the flesh. Back in the beginning days when he still wore farmers coveralls on stage. It was just a fluke. Me and my sister went to the corner store to get a jug of milk for the family, and his tour bus had just pulled in to pick up snacks. My sister, who was a fan, ran into the store after him and plagued him for his autograph. I stayed outside and talked to one of the backup musicians. And yes, even then he dressed in his real life just the same as he dresses on stage.

Bill Withers (Lean on Me, Ain't No Sunshine) with the Spinners as the opening act (medium seats) in the early 70s. Second was Elton John (skybox).
