autographing paper money?

I've heard of people that sign the back of every paper money note they spend. why would someone do this? is this legal? or are they just crazy

You can do it as I can't imagine you'll be charged. Some people enjoy doing it to see if any of the bills they sign come back to them and others like to put their name out there for people to see. It's odd but you won't get in trouble for it.
