S Help!! Math?
The chart shows the cost of tuition at a certain state university. Model the data in the chart with a linear function, using the points (1, 10030) and (3, 11311). Predict the cost in 2005-2006.

chart is:
college years (x) Tuition (y)
1997-1998 0 9484
1998-1999 1 10030
1999-2000 2 10629
2000-2001 3 11311
2001-2002 4 12032

Don't pretend to be confused so others will do your homework. There is nothing easier than linear functions. Do some adding and subtracting then see how much is added every year. God, some people are so lazy!! Yes, you can use algebra and it would be faster, but if you are that confused do some 3rd grade math and you can still get the answer.

slope = (11311-10030)/(3-1)= 640.5
y = 640.5x +b
When x =0 , y= 9484, so
y = 640.5x +9484
x= 8 for 2005-2006, thus:
y= 640.5*8 + 9484 = $14,608.00
