You are important and each individual person can make a big difference in this world. God created people to learn and understand our precious role on this earth in order to prepare us for a role none of us can comprehend. However, not all people are or can be true to themselves, let alone a divine being. I think the recipe is clear though--do good in this world and treat others (and all of God's creation) honestly and fairly, with the intention of doing as much good as possible.

Well i believe that we would think oujrselves to be so important rather than that of a tree with a longer life apan because......

if we didn't exist to consider the tree, than the tree would get no consideration from us.

What a great question. Not everyone feels this way, but I would say the vast majority of human life does. I wonder things like this of humanity on a daily basis. Unfortunately in the instance of a human feeling as though they are better than any living thing I have to blame sheer ignorance. :(
Hope that helps. Again, good question!

Your question is for a Western audience.

In the East, a human life is known to be more that 90 years.

But you are making an excellent point with reference to the relative insight of eastern and western cultures. It's an excellent question.

I've often thought that too, because trees that are young saplings now will still be here when we are all dead and gone. It's good to know that a tree we saw may be seen by future generations too.

Hubris is killing the planet's current ecological semi-sustainability and may kill most of our species including ourselves. If some humans survive the next 200 years, I hope they remember the lesson.

Are you serious?

I could see you asking about us being superior to animals, but trees?

Do trees have the power of communication, reason, or emotion?
