Ideally you want to get a new bat, but if you don't want to spend the money it should be able to function ok for you. However, most bat companies are very good about giving you a new bat if you return the one you bought and show that it's not that old. I would give that a shot. I can't tell you how many of my teammates returned bats--even when it was fairly obvious the bat had been misused--and got brand new bats.

the bat is still useable
but it might have different effects when it hits the ball now

but a new bat would do well too
so either way, it'll work out fine

oh, and it will probably fly off again

You should carry an extra cap on your person and in you car at all times. Use different colors for various decible ranges.

If it flew off once, it will fly off again. You could use some rubber cement to keep it intact. If you want it on permanently, use Superglue!
