dyeing something from black to red?

I have a black cape, but i want to be little red riding hood for halloween. does anyone know if it is possible to dye something black to red? any specific products that could maybe lighten the black to white or something so i could dye it to red? the cape is nylon, which is a dyeable color.

I'm pretty sure the dye used for rayon would not be bleached at all. There's no way to dye over black to obtain red. Sorry!

You would probably need to bleach it first. I am not even sure this would work with black.
