When it gets a little cooler. Right now I am enjoying the cool weather. When it is cold, then the oven helps heat the house!

You know I love to bake all year around. It's my thing for stress reduction and the fall is the time I start getting ready for the Christmas baking.

Before long I'll be putting the rolls of cookie dough in the freezer and I've got my Mom's bread recipe that freezes really well. Think I may put up some trays of cinnamon rolls for those cold winter breakfasts, too.

But right now, I'm starting to do preserves for the holidays. My stock has just about been depleted.

Y'all should come over for breakfast one of these days.

Ahhhhhh, the joys!

That is when I start my baking so as it don't heat up my house to much. I bake cookies, bread, and candy and then put most of it in the freezer until it is Christmas time. That is what I give as gifts for Christmas every year.

It use to be easy to make everything in one day as I had a big house. But now that I live in my little 8 X 30 travel trailer it is mighty hard in the small space that I have to work in. I just have to start out at the first sign of cool weather and then get busy doing it as I have to do one thing at a time now.

When I lived in Ohio, I couldn't wait to do the fall baking. I remember how good my home smelled, especially when I made apple pies, apple crisps, apple cobbler, cinnamon rolls, bread, Nisua (Finnish coffee bread) etc. I'm in S.C. now, & it's still hot here but the cooler weather is coming. Then, it'll officially be fall. In Ohio, they're already feeling the nip in the air, especially at night.

I guess it was Fall that made me go in the Kitchen this week and mix up a batch of Biscuits, first time I even done anything like that, I eat them too, 6 of the 8 anyway. Some with Gravy, some with Jelly and some just Butter. HmHm, I'm hungry, I think I might make some more.

If I were a baker, then I would. It puts me more in the mind to
make a big pot of chicken vegitable soup. Or a pot of chili.
Something else to steam up the windows LOL. My grandma
was the best maker of pies and tarts and different German
pastries. When we'd go out to the farm, her windows were
streaming condensation and the smells from her oven were
unbelievable. I can go back and visit, any time, with my minds
eye and remember it all so well.

Nope. But it sure does inspire my two daughters to start bugging me to bake those apple and pumpkin pies they love so much.

(And PLEASE...nobody mention pumpkin cheesecake?!)

Awwww Roxy...you can still BAKE. Just bake tarts instead of pies, muffins instead of cakes, and bread ALWAYS freezes well. Just invest in some thick freezer bags and you're all set!

No, when it comes to baking I won't go near the kitchen, I let my wife do that. Though I like Autumn, I am always sad to see summer end.
