For some bizzar reason my partner copyed an entire CD with a newer version of windows XP over on to our computer instead of installing the XP from the CD. After doing this it now keeps prompting me to delete files from my C drive the hard drive is full there is no free space. It wont now let me log on to the computer only in safe mode. When i get into safe mode to delete the XP files copied over, i can not find them. when i right clicked C drive to view the hard drive it is completelly full. Please help i dont know what to do. I can not access my computer, it wont let me, it only says free up space from your C drive of which i cant get to. Should i delete every thing from the computer and start again with installing everything from new, as in windows EX? if so how do i do this. Thank you to anyone that can help me x

Have a look at www.windowsreinstall.com for info on reloading windows from scratch.
First LOG in in safe mode . . . where you saved the CD worth of files to, try to locate this in Explorer, and then Delete it, UNLESS this is in the C:\WINDOWS folder
Alternatively, browse / search for "temp internet" folder and any other files like MP3s you don't "need" and delete some of these to let you back into windows.

Well if you dont have anything of great importance on it, I'd say to run a fresh install onto the hd. If you cant get to anything else, you may try to get it fixed by a professional or if you by chance have an enclosure for a portable hard drive then remove the full drive and move it to another computer so that you can access it and delete the files that way. If all else fails, just install a fresh copy including a full format and start from scratch.

If the windows XP disk was stored as one large file, it should be an "ISO" file. If that is the case, while in safe mode use search to find that file by typing "*.iso", and delete any ISO files found. This is pretty safe because ISO files are not executable, and is simply a CD image file.

My best solution would be to connect this hard drive to another computer as a slave drive... then delete all unneeded files or transfer the needed ones to an external hard drive and then restart windows.

wow...thats kinda bad... i say you should take it to a Best Buy and have Geek Squad check it out, and if they cant fix it i think you might just have to wipe it clean. well if you cant access My Computer, then you cant delete anything from your C drive. Geek squad costs some money though.
and theres not really a new version of XP. theres Vista now, but its kinda hard to work with, so says everyone but me. so, yeah try Geek Squad. They should be able to fix it.

while in safe mode delete some stuff you don't need. then it should let you log in in regular mode and then you can find the cd image and delete it.

I would hit the restore button and that should bring you back to when you had a hard drive.

Perhaps somebody could set up a PayPal account, and collect funds to get your mommy a RETROACTIVE abortion.
