THANK YOU and remember who it was that stuck us with HMO's! why do you think democats LOVE mandatory insurance??? they rake in all the money, cover all the "oppressed" and pass the cost to us without us getting to vote on it.

The short answer is, They Can't... but to compare one to the other is ludicrous. Postal rates have rising very slowly in comparison to the rising costs of the gasoline and diesel fuel needed to deliver the mail on time. Should the government subsidize these delivery costs to keep the cost of first class mail from rising, the government would just pass those costs on to the taxpayer in the form of higher taxes. It's the old case of pay me now or pay me later.
As for socialized medicine: It has failed miserably in every country in which it is now or has been tried. If implemented in this country I predict that it will eventually to a two or three tiered system. Here's how: Americans will soon tire of having to wait months or years for diagnosis and treatment, and will rebel. The government will then have to make the system optional. Those that can afford it will pay for health coverage. Doctors and hospitals will then be able to charge those patients more for speedier treatment. Those that can't afford private health insurance and have to remain with the socialized plan will begin to scream loudly of class discrimination. This will lead to class warfare and the effectual end of the middle class in America. The picture isn't pretty!

But the post office is also a successful venture. Additionally, the postage increase is related to the price of oil for transport. If you are concerned about the cost of a stamp- support new technology to rid our oil dependence. But, this has nothing to do with health care, my friend.

The better thing is to look at the projected costs of SS, Medicare, etc and see how far off the government was in predicting future costs and ensuring our budgets are not taken over by entitlement programs.

Gas prices rise, people's salaries rise, cost of everything goes up for the post office. So you believe we should allow the post office to lose money or go bankrupt? Typical con. who wants the whole country to go bankrupt from the borrow and spend that they do.

They can't and won't control healthcare. But you are somewhat mistaken in your analogy. The postal system is a quasi-governmental agency.Compare it with the Federal Bank. They print and control the money supply of the country, but are a private bank. The Post Office runs much in the same way.

This isn't the goverment, it's the internet! The Post Office isn't able to compete with all the other methods we have to send mail and to compensate they have to raise prices. Nobody likes it but what you going to do?

your question about health care is valid, but your comparison to the uspo is way off....think about it, someone drives to your neighborhood, walks up to your abode, delivers (or picks up )your mail, regardless of the weather, and sorts , delivers, and transports your letter anywhere in the usa for what....41cents?...helluva bargain, if you ask me.(unless they're heavily subsidized, then your premise is correct).......

Compare the cost of mailing a parcel through the U.S.P.S. and U.P.S. or Fedex.
