Yes. First white males are the only class of people not protected by law or by some radical group carping about the rights of the oppressed. Beyond that though, what is really going on is a slap at the US. The US was founded by white males, all of the benefits we enjoy in this country today are a direct result of the efforts, wisdom, hard work, and genius of white males. By ridiculing white males in film, TV, and advertising. the childish producers of that trash get a little rush from back handing their betters.

Hollywood largely relies on the money from 15-25 years olds for 80% of their box office receipts.
Families tend to rent or only see the big budget family friendly blockbusters like Shrek or Spiderman.
I am not certain your premise is correct, I think most hollywood writers are middle class white males at leat originally.
Middle class guys are to busy working supporting their families to care what hollywood thinks.

I think it's any men actually. If you ever notice in tv ads the man is always the 'dummy' and the female is always the one to get the job done. They make it seem sometimes like you should have to feel sympathy for her to have to deal with such a lamebrain. I feel like they are sending out a strong wrong message thats really demeaning!

I don't know if the Middle Class White Male is the Problem. I think its the upper-class white male and the policy makers are the ones that have given you a bad name. (i.e.-Bush, Rove, Cheney, Larry Craig, etc.)
You may get the brunt of it more...simply because you are within verbal reach.
But every group has its "black sheep". And those sheep seem to be the most prominent voices heard.
But at the same time...No one is completely without fault for perpetuating stereotypes.

So, you didn't like the movies, "White Man Can't Jump" and White Man's Burden"?
F'shizzel!
Those movies seem to sell, and are never objected to as being controversial. Part of the reason is that the white male has never been a targeted group for discrimination per se; any discrimination is considered "benign."
Sometimes it is good just to sit back and laugh at yourself once in a while; don't take it so seriously.
