I had my last child when I was 30 and she was born without a disability. I would say for a man even 40 is not too old and if the wife is a couple of years or more younger then there should not be a problem.

No. It's not old. My hubby is 30 and I'm 26 and we have no children. We are waiting maybe two more years or so. When you get into your late 30s though, I suppose some poeple may consider that "too old" but with people having kids in their 40s and beyond now, it's not odd at all.

Doctors and any one else can argue with me all they want, but I personally think that men are not ready to have children until they are 30. That's not to say that men cant step up to the plate and be great fathers in their 20's but most men just aren't done being kids enough to have children, and even when they step up to the plate they'd rather spend their Saturdays hanging with the "boys" than at the park. I think 30 is about perfect especially for men, you are still very firmly in the prime of your life, but you've managed to identify who you are, what you stand for, and what you are living for. Parents like myself (who are younger than 30) are thrust into a situation where they are still learning how to be an adult and now trying to learn how to be a parent. Simply, a more mature parent would logically make a better parent.

no it isn't-but 35-36 may be as the kid would be 10 yrs. old when your 45-46.
my husband was 37 when his last one was born and says he's too old for kids that young.everyone has a cutoff time when they know if they will be able to handle kids at a later age.

Your wife sounds like she is grasping at straws and trying to find a way out of parenthood. You are the perfect age to become a father; not too young but certainly far from too old. Find out what is really bothering her. Does she want to be a mother? Is she afraid of childbirth, the changes that will occur to her body and to your relationship? If so, you need to talk those out, but saying you are too old is purely ridiculous.

My aunt had a 22 yr old son.

She remarried at age 40, to a 29 y.o. man and they had a daughter.

She's now 14, and everything is just great. :)
