And IP is basically an Internet Protocol address. Everyone has it. It's just a bunch of numbers seperated by periods to identify you. It's no big deal.

i.p address is Internet protocol ,just like your house telephone number ,its an identification of your link in Internet.usually there would be no such thing at the bottom of the screen,as far as i know, i have never come across such thing.may be your connection is indicating its status as live.

an ip address is you internet protocol address which means that if you do something illegal your computer is being tracked and someone can locate where you are based on that address (this is usually used to catch criminals) but dont worry as long as your not doing anything bad. Internet Provider, the folks who give you your internet connection, for example At&T DSl, or AOL,(yeccch!) Might be some antispyware company putting junk on trying to scare you into buying their stuff. Unless you tried to hack the Pentagon, or National Security, I wouldn't worry, just run your antivirus,antispyware program.
