I agree with Eric S. Way too many to choose but by way of a side track (no pun inteneded) I happened upon a little known S&G song that I have always liked.
Hit the link and give it a try, you never know.

Back when I was in school, my chorus teacher loved Simon and Garfunkel. We sang Bridge over troubled water, Scarboro Fair, and many more. My favorite was Scarboro Fair.

By album:

1. Wednesday Morning, 3 a.m. (the title track)
2. Kathy's Song
3. Homeward Bound
4. Bookends Theme (always makes me cry)
5. The Boxer

Of those, Kathy's Song is in my mind the most thought-provoking and lyrically enduring. Every time I hear it, it applies to my life in a new way.

Sounds of Silence but The Boxer comes in a close second. Both have excellent lyrics. I mean, when they sing about the the people bowed and prayed to a neon god they made, you know exactly what they mean in The Sounds of Silence.

On the other hand, The Boxer is a story of a poor guy, you almost feel like you know him and his pain.
