Nicki: I do not disrespect President Kennedy, He was the last of that eras great Democrat leaders. It is not the same party it was then, and I voted for him and cried when he died.

Ford Perfect: Making far less than $42,000.00, I raised two children on my own, no child support and no government handouts. I also attended classes to further my own education. I bought a home and kept my children insured. It can be done.

I hear mostly Conservatives bashing Liberals in base, general ways like this....generally Liberals attack a certain issue. Most Liberals are not extremists and can live with a conservative opposition...a legitimate opposition of patriots, not simply greedy corporations...

Take the recent bill passed by the Senate regarding child health insurance. It was really redefining the income limit determining who warrants it....the bill made a family of 3 or 4 with an income of about $34,000 elegible for their children to have it...the adults would usually have it through work in some fashion. I make $42,000 and I'm divorced with my son living with me and I have a hard time some times. For me, if my car would break down during a cold winter with high heating bills and I had a medical emregency requiring me to pay a large deductible, I would have a tough time of it. I don't live in a big house and I have few bills really, but I can imagine that a family twice as large as mine making $10,000 less would find it impossible to even cary health insurance for their children,

That said, a patiotic opposition to this health bill would keep the bill from becoming fiscally infeasible...(its good to have people keep the other side honest, even if the other side is you).

I on the other hand expect my Democratic politicians to look at proposed Republican issues in the same manner. If a law or bill would benefit corporations in a way that did not hurt American citizens and was really for the benefit of the country at large...it would be patriotic to support it no matter what your party is.

So, I look at your question and only see a person who sees things in black and white and cares only for his point of view of anyone else. It is not about you and us, liberal and conservative....it is about what is best for America. Don't make me out as the enemy...if you make me out as the enemy, 1/2 of America would be your enemy and among your enemies will be old ladies on fixe4d income worrying about medical bills and children at risk...so what is more important profit or the humanity of citizens of this country.

I do not want able-bodied citizen to get something for nothing, but if a nation ignores the welfare of its citizens, it is doomed to fail, because there would be no reason for them to care about this country. Waht makes this country great is that it does care about people and is powerful enough to care for those who cannot. Rome gave bread to the poor during crisis, to keep them alive and to let them understand that a citizen was more important than profit...America would be nothing special if it did not support the deserving poor

LOL one poster didn't even notice the difference.

The last true democrat made the statement. "Ask not what your country can do for you..."
Funny, he would never make it in the new democrat party. He'd be labeled a warwonger and against all the social programs. He'd have to run on as a conservative republican.
