My wireless routers keeping dieing, they wor great for awhile and then they just quit!? Sometimes they last a few months, sometimes a yr. Whats going on? I've tried many different brands Lynksis, Netgear and Belkin. I've had the best luck w Belkin but still it dies too! I know several ppl who've had the same router for 2 or 3 years. What am I doing wrong? I've tried new cords and everything no luck, I always have toreplace the router. Any ideas?

You said it all. Every eletronic appliance has a life, no matter it produces heat or they don't while working. So when they are put ON, the circuit, the IC's etc. are working, no matter you are using it or not. Try turning them OFF when not using for a long time.
This will surely help you. Rest is nothing wrong for this to happen. Moreover, all the routers available in the market are made using the same techonology, it just a brand name which plays. So, there nothing wrong with Belkin, Net gear or Lynksis...

Well, it could be EMI (electroMagnetic Interference). Or static electricity. Both are detrimental to electronics. Being as your router is connected directly to the phone lines, your lines are a direct source of static electricity from the outside. If the lines outside the house do not have a good ground or the phone box is vunerable to high amounts of static elect. or EMI this could damage your router as well. The telephones are not as vunerable to this, but can be. Here are some suggestions:

Surge protector for the phone lines AND electrical lines to the house. This will protect ALL of your electronics.

Make sure the router is not too close to a lot of other electronic devices, anything electronic (clock radio, etc) could be the cause of EMI.

Make sure the plug for the router is grounded properly. You can get a simple tester at an electrical supply store.
