I have a 2003 ford focus and was wanting to get the windows tinted. I have read that current UK law states that 70% of light must be let through the front windows. I have also read that most cars as standard block out 18 - 22%. Does anyone know how much the ford focus front drivers and passengers windows block out as standard and therefor what level of tint I can legally get. Thank you

I work for a windscreen company in the U.K. and we advise customers not to tint their front door glasses if there is already a 'factory tint' in their glass. Your Focus has a green tint in the glass. We do tint fronts with a 50% tint (at the customers discretion) we so far haven't had any 'come backs'
This makes it 'borderline' . You will probably know pretty much anything goes from the 'B' post back although I wouldn't go any darker than 20% on your rear.Reversing in the dark is a nightmare!

Considering the hassle a botched job would cause , you're best off going to a good, professional window tinting firm, check Yellow Pages, or ask around. Not only will they do a good job, but they'll advise you on what's legal & what isn't.

Most modern cars actually are tinted to almost the legal limit anyhow. Take yours to a good reputable tinters and ask them what extra tint you can have legally. Safest way!

You might call your local DMV and ask them.
