I am a little confused on what some people are trying to say about a good QB. What is the deciding factor for QB elite status: Super Bowl appearances, Super Bowl victories, or QB stats and records?? I see people discrediting Brady, Manning, and Roethlisberger alot. However, these guys have all been to and won Super Bowls. Now I think that doesnt make a QB elite since u need a complete team to win. I know Brady and Manning put up good stats, but Roethlisberger doesnt really get the opportunity and when he does, he made a lot of mistakes. But that occured after an injury proned offseason and regular season. And people want to add that he had a good defense and running game. But didnt the pre- Roethlisberger era have the same philosophy with the same or similar players in it, but for some reason they win it when Roethlisberger is starter! I would like to hear everyones opinion. BTW, I am a steelers fan but I try to be unbiased as possible.

Since you bring up Pittsburgh lets talk about them. The Steelers won the Superbowl Ben while playing the second best QB on the team. Batch is the best QB on the Steelers. Yes, the steelers have always had a run mentality, but the year that they won it all it wasn't because of ben. I would have to attribute it to four players on Offense 2 RB and 2 WR. Ward, Randell El, Bettes, and Parker.

Bettes was so large that a nickle package couldn't take him down, parker was so fast that you needed a nickel package to contain him. How do you game plan for that???

Ward (in my opinion) is the most underratted WR in the game. Randell El allowed you the ability to pull off so many gadget plays that made it possible to win the Superbowl. As much respect I have for the Steelers I have to be honest. They could be considered the worst team to ever win the Superbowl. That season was due to the coachs ability to out-smart the other team.

To be an elite QB like Farve you have to have a great arm, great vision, great leadership, and the respect of your teamates. Manning is arguably the best QB at reading DEF's. Brady has done the most with less. McNabb well if he is healty he can play better then any other QB in the league. Since he can't stand on his feet for 18 weeks he will never be considered Elite. Right now there are 3 playing in my opinion. Manning, Brady, and Farve. There are some growing in the league but won't be ready for a couple years.

Super bowls. Pure and simple. Joe Montana is the greatest living quarterback that ever played the game. He was the ultimate winner. On the other hand, Jim Kelly took his team to four straight super bowls. He is considered great but not at the same level as Montana. Manning has always been overhyped as one of the greatest, but as a matter of fact, he is just a Dan Marino clone, this time with a win. Now, take Tom Brady....he is just brilliant. He took a team of nobodies on his back and won three super bowls. Now, New England is on the verge of greatness because of the arsenal it has. Imagine how better Tom Brady would have been if he had Randy Moss in the past years. You bet the bottom dollar that his team would have beaten the Colts last year in the AFC game. Plain and simple, super bowl wins measure greatness of quarterbacks. Statistics are for losers.

Imo, Brett Favre is the greatest QB. He has broken almost every record, played more consecutive games than any player in any position, played more seasons and has a love for the game that is unmatched by anyone. I'm sure that others would disagree based on their own formula. Even the "experts" can't agree on how to determine this question, so I understand the confusion. I know there are lots of great QB's so I guess its up to you to decide for yourself.

Everyone decides a great QB. Everybody has their own opinions on what makes a QB great. Some put more weight on different factors. So there's no clear cut way to say one QB is better than another. That's why people debate, because nobody is right. It's based on opinion. So you're free to say that you think Ben is a great QB.

Great quarterbacks are great leaders. The QB not only needs to be able to make plays, but more importantly the QB needs to be able to make the rest of his team make plays by showing leadership. If you look at some of the great QBs in today's NFL, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, you will see that all of them are great team leaders as well as great players.

Roethlisburger doesn't show up when you need it. He did horrible in the playoffs (didn't throw a single TD) his team carried him to the victory.
