I think what you're saying is "Why can't the government print more money?"

Inflation is essentially the answer.

Money, by itself has little value. You cannot eat it, wear it, play with it, live in it or do much with it that you can't do better with regular paper. It only represents the ability to trade things of real value (primarily objects or work-hours).

Just printing money does not increase the amount of objects or work-hours, it just means you need more money to buy them.
