Yes I almost stepped on one a few times and had one sun bathing on my back porch one time...that I think I startled it almost as much as it startled me! Freaked me out man!!! lol It was only a garter snake, but I don't care...a snake is a snake...is a snake! Poisonous or not...I am scared to death!!!

Yes. When I was a little girl I was walking through a field full of poppies and I was gathering some to take to my mother. I was with a friend, a small boy my age. Anyway at some point he spotted a snake. He wasn't afraid at all. I saw it to and dropped the flowers and started running but he remained calm;he picked up a big stone and through it on the head of the snake which died instantly.

I grew up in the Australian bush. I've had many, many close calls with snakes.
Once, as a child of about 9, I almost stood on a King Brown, a highly venomous snake....another time, a Taipan slid right past my right foot.
I've had snakes in my house, kitchen cupboards and even in my clothes draws....
With all the close contacts I've ever had, it never ceases to amaze me, that I've never been bitten.....touch wood!

Plenty of times
Came across a Timber Rattler near our place in the VA mountains...took pictures from a safe distance, very pretty and scary looking snake.
Found five little brown snakes in the river this summer...they must have just hatched...I have been around that river every summer all my life and had never seen so many snakes in one day!
Found a Northern Ring Neck snake in my basement about a month ago...he was tiny...caught him and put him out.
A nature center visits the preschool that I work for and they brought a black rat snake. I held this snake...his name was cookie or something like that..very nice snake.
Those are my most recent sighting...I have no fear of them, but do have lots and lots of respect for them!!

A copperhead bit my dog in the eye once. His head swelled to like 3 times its size, he looked like a little alien dog.

Yes. I was out for a walk with my son and his friend (who were both 2 at the time) and they both decided to just sit in dirt. They wouldn't get up. So I went to physically move them and out of the corner of my eye there was a diamondback slowly moving toward us - less than 2 feet (we live in AZ.). I picked up my son's friend (who was closest to me) and kicked my son in the butt to roll him down the little dirt hill and told him to run. It was a little scary.
