it is meant to say that this crime never would have happened if this person was not searched out because he or she is different. It is to lay a higher penalty on a crime that the person may have gotten off easier on, which would have allowed them to continue their crime spree against a certain group of people.

I do not believe there are hate crimes. Any crime is done because of hate. There are probably liberals who think that if a black youth shoots a white storekeeper, it is not hate. But in my opinion, it is the worst kind of hate and utter disrespect.

i think it's bs. crime is crime. having a specific hate crime almost creates an that expects such crimes to occur.

the playing field should be made level. you get no breaks whatever race you are. we should be made to get along and work in a diverse world. there is not enough sensitivity and value of diversity education given.

Would the guys who killed Matthew Shepherd have done that to a straight person? Very doubtful.

Although, I will say that just because you pass a law it does not mean that it will deter people from commiting the crime.

Prison time and the Death Penalty doesn't deter murder.

I have no idea what your statement was (try grammar). But, every crime is a hate crime. Sadly, liberals don't understand that.

OK , whaddya call criminals who only seek out 'Human Beings' to commit crimes against ? Is that any less hateful ? Or Irrational?
What if their target group is human beings ? I really want you to think about this one .
