PHP help: which function is used for tracking traffic ?

Php help:assume there are plenty of links of my web site on other web sites. how would i know that from where a visitor came to my site . i mean a there must be a reference kind of function . which is this. please help me . very thankful to you people as always for your supportings.

Well what you want to capture is the referer address.
echo $HTTP_REFERER;
?>
Here is a canned one to do that with:

if you just want to pull that data from your logs

will do nicely.
