I know a girl named Roma. It's okay. Different from the usual names.

I actually think it's a nice name - but mainly because it reminds me of a character in a children's TV show called 'The Hoobs'!

Roma is a pretty cool roving reporter character - check out her 'profile' here:

and, if you are unfamiliar with the programme in general, it's worth taking a look at it; one of the ones I used to love watching with my daughter a couple of years back (and that's saying how much we liked the show because I usually HATE the tacky rubbish spoon fed to kids these days!)

Go for it - and good luck!

Not really. It's just my opinion. Why not name your daughter something similar to Roma and call her that for short?

I like it, especially if you're Italian and want an easily pronouncable, exotic sounding name. I might use Romana for a full name and call her Roma.

I would name her Romana, and let her use Roma as a nickname, incase she decides she wasnts to use Romana someday instead.

I love Romana, nn Roma though. Very pretty!

Just make sure it goes well with your last name, and check the initials.

If I had no other choice but to name my baby the name of a city, I think I would choose Grecia which is Greece, only that in Spanish.

It's okay. Reminds me of tomatoes, but it would be nice as a middle name. And whatever you do,DON'T change it to Ramona. There's a series of books about a girl named Ramona and she was always doing embarrassing things (like cracking raw eggs on her head, vomiting in front of a whole room of people...).

I think it is pretty, as it is italian for Rome, but it is still one of the fashionable place names like Savanah, Dakota, Jersey, dallas, Paris, ect.
