Personnaly I think he was minority hire. They figured that with a $200 million dollar payroll they couldn't lose. No matter who manages......

Funny responses. The last place teams don't have an all-star lineup. Randolph does. He's just not smart enough to use it wisely...

He seems pretty tight. Definitely not the relaxed presence his mentor, Joe Torre is. Maybe that's why Willie was interviewed umpteen times before and never hired.

If I told you the Mets had a chance to hire a manager who had been a solid professional during a long pro career, and who had a long association as a coach with one of the sport's top teams over the last quarter-century, wouldn't you rate him as an excellent candidate?

I don't think pigmentation had anything to do with it, and I don't think Randolph came out of the bullpen to give up runs in the last two weeks either.

His bullpen has to be the worst I've ever seen on any contending team. A big reason for that is from his starting pitchers steadily failing to last more than 5 or so innings thereby overworking the bullpen. He may get blamed but from time immemorial its been said that the manager can't go out there and play for the players.

Did you think so last year? I mean, he won last year and this year his team finishes 2nd (maybe still 1st, you never know) and so his team is doing well. Yes, they slid at the end of this year, but don't you think that the last place team might have a worse manager than yours?

No. Are you high? The mets have the 5th highest payroll at about $105 million.

Every fan is critical of their manager. They always think they can manage better. Randolph has done a nice job with a terrible bullpen.

It's not his fault that his team is struggling so bad right now. They were in 1st place all year until now. Give the guy some credit. I think he's done a great job!

I personally don't care about the NL, but he really isn't because well, his team has been in 1st place until now and they are only 1 game behind.

Joe Torre, consider his payroll and talent no other teams should even compete with them.
