There's little to fear, in my opinion. As what you've described happens, men will simultaneously demand accountability from women much more. There will come a day in the next 10 to 15 years when misled feminism, nagging wives, and women who abuse the power of their attractiveness will be called out as much as male chauvinists were in the 70s and 80s. We have more power than we realize. Men probably won't ask for more than a lack of denial of these things, but eventually, we'll demand at least that.

Is the United States evolving into a Matriarchy?
No. It's just becoming a country where those with greater ability and talent are more likely to succeed, regardless of gender.
Will women do a better job then men?
I don't know. I don't think women will do a WORSE job than men, but I don't necessarily believe it will be any better.
The reason I say this is that our current society and system of government is quite clearly the kind of government that a male would have come up with...if women had been in charge from the beginning, everything about society would be radically different. At this point, it's too late to change the current "system", and if women end up taking on more of a leadership role than men, they'll have to beat them at their own game.
But current trends suggest we might very well be capable of that.
Who knows?
As for me I think the most important thing about any given leader is their ability, talent, and intelligence, not their gender.

Nope don't see the US as a matriarchy until:
-women are the majority in Congress and the Supreme Court,
-women are the majority of CEO's of Fortune 500 companies,
-women run the majority of religious, non-profit, and social organizations,
women make a great deal more money than men, and
-women are no longer the majority living in poverty.
Until then we have a patriarchy, by all indications. The educational differences have only taken place recently, and could backslide, like other advances that have occurred.
Do I think women would do a better job as the majority in power? Nope. Power corrupts. I hope for equality, not superiority for either gender. Patriarchy hasn't worked out well for women, I don't foresee a matriarchy working well for men either.

Yes, it's sad really. Men need to be a lot more united to stop the US from being feminize. Women aren't capable of being a good leader. There are many poor third-wolrd countries out there where women are in power, and those countries are corrupted. If women are in power, the world is doom.

...However, women are far more likely to be in poverty than men. Being a mother is the single greatest risk factor for both poverty and filing for bankruptcy in the US. (More so than race, education level, or socioeconomic status as a child - and FAR more than being a father.) How can we have a matriarchy if we're the ones with no cash?
EDIT: I hope you don't think I'm being hostile. I'm trying to answer the question. Wouldn't the people in charge have the most money?

Yes women will take on the world but at what costs? Think about personal and family roles, womanly roles and roles of a woman in society.

I agree that the trend is for more women in leadership positions. The reason for this is that women can do as well or better than some men. Historically, men have had had the upper hand in positions of authority, and many have really botched things up. Women are of a different temperament, and have proven themselves capable of competing with men in just about every occupation. Some have even been leaders of a country. Imagine that!!!

First question: Yes, it's going that way.
Second question: Nope.
We're already seeing what will happen...men are being given the hose.

Actually NO it not! Women are just catching up to men as equals after a history of repression by men. They have finally made huge jump in status and that is the way it should be because they are just as capable as man of doing most any job there is and they are better at others!

Ever heard of the gender gap?
I think the idea that we'll rise above men is stupid and not probable at all.
