i'm trying to get more and more into non-mainstream music. don't get me wrong, i love mainstream such as korn, disturbed, metallica, ozzy, breaking benjamin, velvet revolver, three days grace, papa roach, etc. but i just need something new. so far, i've discovered eighteen visions, black light burns, city sleeps, bed light for blue eyes, and the exies and i love them all. i'd really prefer if you list ROCK bands and give me a couple good songs i can get started off with from them. i'm not really into screamo, so please don't list that stuff. i'm also a guitar freak, so if you know a band that does alot of good guitar then list those too! well thanks =]

ahmed m: yes, i do love 'old' music. i'm a HUGE fan of bands such as led zepelin, aerosmith, acdc, jimi hendrix, guns n roses, rob zombie, pink floyd, journey, etc. but obviously those aren't exactly unknown. so do you know any older music as well that i could listen to?

I love this band called HourCast. I saw them opening for Breaking Benjamin last year and have been hooked ever since. I've seen them four times live and I love their CD. It's hard to recommend any songs in particular because I seriously love them all, so here is a link to their MySpace page and you can just check out what they have posted there. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=3737995&MyToken=64ffb969-af35-4f37-9b40-21242021ec6f
Check them out, I hope you like them!

Here's a few:

Local H - Big hit was "Bound for the Floor" back in the mid 90's, but they never really stayed mainstream. Still making music, still good.

Ours - Song "Sometimes" was played on the radio a lot about 5 years ago, then they faded out of the mainstream world fast. Pretty good band.

You can also hear a sample of their music at their web page.

Silversun Pickups - They are a mainstream band, but I'm mentioning them because I think they are really good. Check them out if you haven't already.
