How: super volcano (Yellowstone), asteroid, Global Warming (that's more long term, though)
When: According to the Mayan/Aztec calender 12/21/12. But, there have been several 'end of the world' predictions. Based completely on religion whereas this is based on a calender, then religious stuff was added.
In history, great civilizations have outgrown their supply and killed themselves off. How are we not doing that?
That's human civilization. As far as the whole earth goes, I guess it will be some universal related phenomena. A while from now, though.

The world will end billions of years from now in a meltdown when the sun goes nova.
The world as we know it today? Well that's a different answer.
For starters I don't know when, no one but God knows that and He isn't even telling His Archangels that!
As we know the world now, it will end in an evil state far worse than it is now. It will be lead to it's demise by a one world government, and at the head of this government will be a beastly little man, and his sidekick; another Little powerhouse of evil.
They will bring us to the brink of destruction and on that very moment where there is no turning back from total annihilation of the human race: God will step in and stop our insane evil towards one another.
An order of peace and love the old hippies cried for in the sixties will truly come to reality.
In this we will have for all time the glory of God amongst us and we will be under His dominion.
That's what I believe and I'm sticking to it. Faithfully.

Why do you think your time will end with it? Do you think that when you are dead your dead? Your body may die tomorrow , but your soul will live on forever. Stop thinking so two dimensional. Your mind is trapped by it's own limit point of view. If I had to guess about how the earth will die, it would probably be from some cosmic event namely a large asteroid impacting the earth either smashing it apart or throwing off of it's axis so violently that it would trigger a cataclismic event.
When will this happen,could be any day who knows, we have so many near misses that you never hear about , it's probably just a matter of time.

It really doesn't take a lot of imagination. In another 15 to 20 billion years the Sun will have used up most of its fuel and will expand to become a 'red giant' with a diameter almost equal to the orbit of Mars. That means that the Earth (as well as Venus, Mercury, and probably Mars) will be vaporized.

Only one answer: the world will be a burnt crisp after our sun supernovas. As for humans, we'll probably be doomed off by some wayward asteroid, supervolcanoe, or a result of global suicide after a nuclear exchange. The world will far outlast our species...sorry. As for our galaxy, it's on a date with destiny for a massive collision with the Andromeda Galaxy.

In approximately 2.5 billion years the sun will go nova. Before that there is the possibility of a large asteroid impact.
Humans on the other hand will extinct them selves shortly. I like the destruction of nuclear power plants, processing plants and storage facilities by earth quakes and war. This will release enough long term radioactive material to kill us off.

In the end I'm guessing we shall be responsible for are own demise, destroying the planet through Global Warming etc., constant war, seems like were never at piece, as for when, I'm guessing in the coming century.
