I had some to break of and I simply stuck them in a cup of water and waited for the roots to appear. It took a couple of weeks but I then put them in the dirt and watered and they are doing fine.Make sure there is no rotting plant tissue on the area where the new roots will be other wise it will continue to rot in the water.

haha
MY Christmas cactus did bloom around Thanksgiving, but I KILLED IT!!!!

Actually, they are pretty easy--NOT WATER
You stick them in the dirt--not too deep and keep them
LIGHTLY watered-only when the dirt is dry, dry.
TOO MUCH water will kill them.
