She claims that she really was not so rude before she got onto television, and that it was the producers of the show that loved the little edge that she had... they are the ones that suggested that she spice it up. They encouraged her to act the way she does.
If you watch her show from years back to this day, you can see how mild she use to be!!!!!

She appears to be so much down to earth on the talk shows! And she married her present husband twice! I think she may have!
