I read a comic once while on a submarine at a depth of 750 feet.
That was the deepest I ever went.
But seriously ...............the deepest read for me was a book called Hyperspace ( A Scientific Odyssey Through Parallel Universes, Time Warps, and The Tenth Dimension) by Michio Kaku in which the idea of the existence of more than 4 dimensions is investigated.

I am legend by Richard Matheson its an extremely good book which is about the characters psychological disposition as he struggles with despair of being the only man left in a world destroyed by vampires but dont just put it down as a crappy horror novel cause it totally far from that cause The author emphasises that he is an ordinary, flawed man trying to deal with an extraordinary catastrophe
Much of the story is devoted to the characters struggles to understand the plague that has transformed everyone he meets except for himself, and the novel details the progress of his discoveries. In this regard, the novel is almost unique in vampire fiction in that instead of asking the reader to accept a supernatural explanation for vampire phenomena, the author strives to offer scientific basis for such symptoms as aversion to garlic, craving of fresh blood, and resistance to bullets but vulnerability to stakes and sunlight.
READ IT you will not be disappointed.

"Journey To The End Of The Night" by Celine is my all time favourite book, it's up the there with Jussi Bjorling singing the duet from the "Pearl Fishers" as some of the things I'd have to have if I was stuck on a desert island.

Harry Potter is top of the list because I love it so much, but Cornelia Funkes' book, Inkheart, is one of the best books I have ever read. I would definitly encourage people to read it. There is also a sequal to it.
